Amy Lai was born and raised in Los Angeles County. As the seventh daughter of Chinese immigrants, she took her parent's stories of sacrifice and struggle as fuel for her own personal growth. Amy was the first in her family of eight children to graduate from college, achieving a B.S. in Psychology from UCSD. After college, she set her sights on teaching abroad and held roles as an English-language educator in China and South Korea. While abroad, Amy shaped her worldview and connected with her roots, bringing the people and poverty-stricken places in her parents storie to life. She believes in the importance of social responsibility and dedicates her time to volunteering for various non-profit organizations. In her professional life, Amy is a fashion merchandiser and the editor of her own lifestyle blog thecomelycloset—where she shares her passion for accessible fashion with readers around the globe. She hopes to inspire people to be confident through personal expression.
