Jessie Woo is completing her last year of college at Cal State Fullerton as a communications major. She wants to pursue a career in public relations in the entertainment industry because she is passionate about movies and music. Watching movies growing up, she came to believe that we identify with who we see on screen. She imagines that we feel what the characters feel, because perhaps once in our life, we experienced something close to what the actor is living on the screen. That is why she is hopeful to see more Asian Americans represented in entertainment. Her favorite movie growing up was Mulan because she was able to identify with the main character that made the little warrior princess inside of her become present. She wants young Asian individuals to also have that role model to identify with, or to have the opportunity and courage to take a career path in the entertainment industry, something that isn’t considered standard to Asian culture.
