Katie Chan is a proud first-generation college graduate who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she was deeply involved in community service and equity initiatives. Born and raised in Alhambra, she is trilingual in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese and draws constant inspiration from her parents’ immigrant journey from Hong Kong and Vietnam. Katie currently serves as a field deputy, working hand in hand with Los Angeles Chinatown residents to help them navigate and access culturally relevant resources.

Guided by her commitment to public service, she aspires to grow into a leadership role serving the community, with the goal of uplifting immigrant and working-class communities, focused on seniors and small businesses, and preserving cultural heritage for generations to come. She also proudly serves as President and Commissioner of the Environmental & Sustainability Commission for the City of Alhambra’s District 4, where she collaborates with residents and city leaders to advance sustainability, environmental justice, and improve the quality of life.

Outside of her work, Katie finds joy in hiking, pilates, exploring plant nurseries, karaoke, and sharing meals with loved ones—especially dim sum. Her achievements include the UCLA Chancellor’s Service Award, the UCLA Panhellenic First-Generation Scholarship, and multiple Dean’s Honors List recognitions, reflecting a life rooted in service, gratitude, and giving back to the communities that raised her.
