Forty years ago, El Cerrito's Cynthia Gouw entered and won the Miss Chinatown San Francisco contest. She went on to win the Miss Chinatown contest the following year, later earned her law degree from UCLA and had a long career as an actress, model and news reporter/anchor at 9 television stations, including KTVU in Oakland, and with NPR San Francisco.
