Annie Xu

Annie Xu was born in Shanghai, a spectacular metropolis on the east coast of China. Having spent significant time in America and China, she has worked hard to understand her adopted country and has spent a great deal of time thinking about the two cultures. While doing her undergrad at UC-Berkeley, Annie noticed voices in the Chinese community are not seen, heard, counted, or valued. Thus, she started to do community service. She became a strong advocate for effective altruism and actively participates in charity. Annie allocates a portion of income to her own donor advised fund and recently joined the board of directors for Asian Pacific Community Fund. She plans to play a critical, strategic role in enlarging and coordinating philanthropic resources. Annie will dedicate herself to non-profit organizations and advocate for their visions. She hopes that her willingness and effort to serve the Chinese community will stimulate effective collective action and transform the status quo.
