Jacqueline C. Wu

Jacqueline C. Wu is the daughter of Chinese-Vietnamese refugees and the first American-born in her family. Born to a working class household, she attained a strong sense of responsibility, independence, and leadership while raised by her extended family because her parents worked long hours. At UC Irvine, Jacqueline studies Political Science to understand how to empower communities. Influenced by her humble beginnings, Jacqueline dedicates herself to Asian Pacific American causes. She works with the Organization of Chinese Americans, Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team, Media Action Network for Asian Americans, and many other organizations. Her commitment earned her recognition among UCI's Top 30 Most Influential Asian American Students in 2010. While spending much time serving others, Jacqueline also prioritizes academic and professional excellence, consistently placing on the Dean's Honor List and attaining membership in the Pi Sigma Alpha and Pi Gamma Mu honor societies. Additionally, she refines her skills while pursuing her passions. Last summer, Jacqueline learned about corporate partnerships with nonprofits as a Public Affairs Intern at State Farm. She currently works as a Grant Writer with the Olin Group to support community organization development. Entering the Miss LA Chinatown pageant, Jacqueline sought to give back in a way beyond volunteering, serving on a board, or being a corporate liaison.
