Flora S. Tsang
Born in Hong Kong, Flora Tsang immigrated to Northern California at a young age. She recently graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara, with a major in Film and Media and a minor in English. Flora is passionate about film and intends to become a film director. Her student films reflect Chinese American theme and achieve to portray a positive Chinese American image. In 2010, she pitched a script she co-writes with her sister to her school. While under high competitions, her script successfully made it in, and became the first student film made in the film department that features Chinese American characters. The animated short was showcased at several film festivals around the world, and will arrive at this year Hong Kong International Film Festival in April 2011. Her passion in films continues after graduation. She currently works at a company to design 3D animation models, while continues developing concepts and making independent films with her production team, JOORA Productions, to showcase Chinese American talents. In addition, Flora also volunteers to teach production technologies to youth in high school to advocate film as a form of self expression for youth while allowing a new pool of Chinese American talents to flourish. In her spare time, she enjoys playing Chinese Harp, writing scripts, reading, capturing people and nature with her camera. She is the proud daughter of Alan Tsang and Mei Ng.
